Hard floor coverings or carpet. What are the pros and cons of having them in the home?
Carpets are rather like a rubbish bin. They have an amazing capacity to work as a filter, to hold and capture airborne particles. But like a rubbish bin they need emptying. So, the more they are emptied, the harder they work. With hard floors dust and dirt settles on the surface, so they are easier to clean on a daily basis. However, when floors are swept the secret is to prevent dust recirculating in the air. So it can actually be easier to live with carpets, if you suffer from allergies or asthma.
Do all my carpets need the same attention?
No. The carpets throughout your house get varying degrees of usage. Your hallway, for example. It sees far more feet than your bedrooms. A Countrywide Floorcare Consultant can create a maintenance plan that delivers cleaning where it is needed. Less waste, less disruption and more cost-effective for you too!
What is the dry cleaning method? I've heard so much about it recently.
We like to offer choice, so although most people are aware of the wet extraction system that we offer, they are not as aware of our low moisture system. First the carpet is pile lifted and power vacuumed to remove as much dry dirt and deposits as possible. Then the carpet is covered with a sprinkling of these powerful little non-abrasive, organic sponges. Our machine then mechanically brushes them deep through the carpet yarn, absorbing any of the remaining sticky, oily soil trapped in the carpet. Then the carpet is vacuumed again until it is "empty". The result is a clean, fresh and dry carpet ready for immediate use.
What are the benefits of dry cleaning a carpet?
Because our dry method is a low moisture cleaner, all carpets can be walked on once the Floorcare Consultant has left. On the other hand, you should avoid walking on a carpet if wet cleaning methods have been used. The carpet certainly needs time to dry and this could take up to 24 hours, which can be inconvenient. Also, with the low moisture method, there is no danger of shrinkage or colour loss. This cleaning method can also be of benefit to your indoor air quality.
